A great resource for classroom teachers, this set contains:

5 copies of The World of Florida’s Spanish Colonial Past: 1565 – 1821 poster booklet
one hardcover copy of America’s REAL First Thanksgiving
accompanying teacher’s manual

The colorful poster booklet which chronicles Spanish colonial history in Florida in relationship to American history was created by the Florida Humanities Council for use by teachers in the classroom. The 22”x25.5” poster side includes a timeline of Florida history from 1565 to 1821, highlighting major events from the colonial period. The reverse side contains additional information for students to gain a clearer understanding of the Spanish colonial experience in America and frontier life in America’s oldest city, St. Augustine.

The book, America’s REAL First Thanksgiving, gives a historical overview of the world as it was in 1565 and recounts how St. Augustine came to be the site of the first Thanksgiving in North America, a feast between the Native American people and the Spanish on September 8, 1565. The accompanying teacher’s manual provides a wide variety of resources for teachers in grades 4 through 8 which can easily be adapted to a variety of skill levels.

Thanks to the support of the National Endowment for the Humanities, Publix Super Market Charities, and the St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra & the Beaches Visitors and Convention Bureau, this resource set is being provided free for teachers. A minimal charge of $10 is requested to cover postage and related shipping costs.
